Ere Ibeji

Catalog of the exhibition "Ere Ibeji" at the Afrika Museum in Berg en Dal from 1993.

The Ere Ibeji exhibition, featuring images of twins in Africa, particularly among the Yoruba of Nigeria, is the third in a series dedicated to showcasing private collections, for which the Afrika Museum opened the doors of its gallery. While several collections are represented here, the core of this exhibition is based on the significant collection of Jacques Vogelzang, president of the Friends of Ethnography Association.

This initiative, which is both an exhibition and a catalog publication, fulfills a long-held wish of the Afrika Museum in Berg en Dal and Jacques Vogelzang. It materialized with renewed intensity when the museum acquired part of the archives and objects from Dr. J. Zuring, who had already sparked interest with his 1977 publication exploring customs related to twins in African and Afro-American cultures. The tenth anniversary of the Friends of Ethnography Association in 1993 provided the perfect opportunity for the realization of this joint project.

A beautiful selection of photographs by Ferry Herrebrugh. 64 pages - Texts in Dutch.
